Our History

The Story

How It All Began

The event was started in 1994 by the legendary Earle Morris with the intention of providing OVCA teams with the opportunity to play against national and world calibre teams in their own backyard.
For the first 13 years, it was run as a single combined male/female event before splitting into separate Men's and Women's draws in 2007.
2026 marks 33 years since the event began — the 31st edition, as COVID forced cancellation in both 2020 and 2021.
Mike McEwen and Dawn (Askin) McEwen first met at an early edition of the SuperSpiel.
